Hamilton-born Barch known for fights and hard-hitting play
Former London Knight now in third season with Dallas Stars
Known as a tough player on the ice, Krystofer Barch has become a bit of a fighter since signing on with the Dallas Stars of the NHL, but has used these talents to become more of an enforcer, helping to energize the team.
Born in Hamilton in March of 1980, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Barch began his hockey with Georgetown in the OPJHL for the 1995-96 season, then went to the London Knights of the OHL for three seasons. He became one of the team’s top players, and in the 1999-2000 season scored 23 goals in 56 games.
After London, he played for the AHL teams of Portland and Norfolk, plus some time with the Richmond Renegades and Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round, 106th overall in the 1998 NHL draft, Barch signed with Dallas as a free agent in July of 2006.
He was called up from the Iowa Stars to Dallas in January of 2007, and has remained with the NHL club since then.
To date, the left-shooting right winger has eight goals in 146 NHL games playing on the team’s fourth line. His numbers in penalties reflects his role with the team, as he has amassed 345 minutes, 133 minutes alone for his 72-game 2008-09 season. Dallas finished the season with a 36-35-11 record.
The hard-hitting Barch will be part of the London team, playing in the third line in the August 2009 Euro-Can Cup, a seven-game series between the London Knights and teams from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany to be held at the John Labatt Centre in London.
