Red Wings Trainer part of Hamilton’s Memorial Cup winners
When Eddie Bush was hired as the new coach of the Hamilton Red
Wings in 1960, another important part of the team’s personnel
assumed his new duties at the Forum about the same time.
Harvey Meisenheimer became the new Red Wing trainer, and remained
with the club for three years, including the Memorial Cup-winning
season.
Nicknamed “Boogie” because he won a Boogie-Woogie
dance contest in his youth, Meisenheimer not made sure the hockey
equipment and first air supplies were in good shape, he assisted
coach Bush with practice drills for the players.
Before coming to Hamilton, Meisenheimer had been the trainer for
the Philadelphia Falcons and the Sudbury Wolves, including the
Wolves’ Allan Cup finals in 1953-54.
Originally from Parry Sound, Meisenheimer passed away in June
of 1968.
