The Goalie:

Frank Caprice played three seasons in the OHL for the London Knights and in his third and final season there was selected to the OHL All-Star Third Team. Also that year he represented Canada at the 1982 World Junior Championships and won all three of his starts there winning the gold medal, Canada's first at the World Junior Championships. At the end of the 1982 OHL season, he signed on with the Canucks and turned pro.

Frank Caprice was not selected in 1980 NHL Entry Draft despite being eligible. In 1981 was selected by Vancouver Canucks in round 9, #178 overall.

Caprice made his NHL debut, playing the 3rd period in a blowout to the Los Angeles Kings. Shortly thereafter he won his first NHL start, beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on December 10, 1983, in Vancouver. The game was telecast live on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. Caprice earned first-star honours in that 3-2 Canucks victory.

The following season suffered an upper leg injury, (torn hamstring muscle), December 1, 1984. Caprice had to be taken from the ice on a stretcher. Because of the injury missed half of the season. For the next three NHL seasons was bounced around between Vancouver and their farm club in the AHL, the Fredericton Express.

After the 1987-88 season never played another game in the NHL but still remained in the game playing in various hockey leagues in North America, IHL, AHL, and WPHL and hockey leagues in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Caprice appeared in 102 NHL games over 6 NHL seasons, posting a 31-46-11 record with a 4.19 GAA and one shutout.

He retired from hockey in 1999 and returned to his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. He would come out of retirement in 2001 to represent the Dundas Real McCoys at the 2001 Allan Cup.

In 1993, Caprice played for the Vancouver Voodoo of Roller Hockey International.

Caprice was one of dozens of Hamilton-born and Hamilton-raised NHL hockey players in attendance for the ‘Heroes of Hometown Hockey’ game March 26, 2004 when the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs hosted the St. John’s Maple Leafs at Copps Coliseum. There was a pre-game banner raising ceremony for all the ‘Heroes of Hometown Hockey’ and for the ‘Heroes of Hometown Hockey’ All-time Team that night. Caprice's name is on the first banner.
